Union-Made Tires - (1/12/2015)
Union-Made Tires
In the Nov-Dec 2014 issue of "Label Letter: Union Label & Service Trade Department, AFL-CIO," the United Steelworkers discovered trade issues between Chinese tire manufacturers. The prices of these tires may be cost-effective but the quality is low and they're killing the U.S. domestic markets.
So how do you find union-made tires? The U.S. Department of Transportation requires each tire to have a code that shows the company and location of the manufacturing plant. An example of the code would be: DOT BE ## ### ###. Listed below are for factory codes throughout the U.S.
• BE: B.F. Goodrich, Tuscaloosa, Ala.
• BF: B.F. Goodrich, Woodburn, Ind.
